Nordanalyt is a contract analytical laboratory that took index submissions from 2024-Q3 onward. It is the most capable contributor in the index on methods and the least convenient on turnaround, and its record set is correspondingly small and unusually rich.

Three capabilities exist nowhere else in the index. Ion-pair chromatography makes the short bioregulator class — carnosine, vilon, pinealon, epitalon — genuinely assayable rather than nominally assayable, and Nordanalyt is the source of every report in that class that the index does not mark method-inappropriate. Size-exclusion chromatography allows the recombinant and conjugated compounds (IGF-1 LR3, IGF-1 DES, PEG-MGF, follistatin-344) to be characterised for aggregate content, which reverse-phase chromatography cannot do. And ICP-MS gives a copper number for GHK-Cu and a zinc number for thymulin, which is the difference between a complete and an incomplete report on those two compounds.

Repeatability is the best in the index at 0.16 pp, helped by duplicate injection as standard. Measured bias is +0.02 pp on 74 paired comparisons — indistinguishable from the reference despite the 35-minute gradient, which is mildly surprising and is discussed on the inter-lab page.

The constraint is throughput. Nordanalyt's median turnaround in the index is 14 days and its cost per full panel is several times that of the faster laboratories, so it is used for difficult compounds and disputed results rather than routine screening.

Methods offered

What a laboratory can measure decides what a record can establish. A submission that orders only purity produces a record that names nothing.

  • RP-HPLC purity (%area, 214 nm), duplicate injection
  • LC-MS/MS identity and sequence confirmation
  • ion-pair chromatography for short and charged peptides
  • size-exclusion chromatography for aggregates and conjugates
  • Karl Fischer water
  • counter-ion by ion chromatography
  • residual solvents by GC headspace, ICH Q3C(R8)
  • ICP-MS for metal-complexed peptides

Figure 1. Distribution of purity figures reported by Nordanalyt. This is not a distribution of material quality — it is a distribution of what this laboratory was sent, which is a different and unrepresentative sample. Compare its shape against another laboratory's rather than its position: a short gradient compresses the left tail because unresolved species are counted into the main peak.

Agreement with the other laboratories

Each row is a paired analysis: batches where this laboratory and another one both assayed the same physical lot. A difference on a matched pair is bias plus noise, and it is the only clean way to compare laboratories.

Provenance of what this laboratory receives

A laboratory that mostly receives supplier-supplied samples produces a record set with a known upward pressure on it, however good its analysis is. This is a property of the submission channel and not of the laboratory.
