About Open AssayIndex
Open AssayIndex collects assay reports submitted by buyers and laboratories, normalises them into one schema, and publishes each one as a record with its method, its provenance and its limitations attached. Rollups by batch, compound, supplier, lab and quarter are computed from those records and nothing else. The whole dataset is downloadable as CSV and JSON.
What this is
An index of assay reports. Buyers and laboratories submit analytical results on research peptides; the index normalises them into one schema, publishes each as a record with its method and provenance attached, rolls them up by batch, compound, supplier, laboratory and quarter, flags them against 12 published rules, and republishes the whole thing as CSV and JSON.
It is not a forum, not a shop, not a review site and not a certification body. There is no login, no account, no cookie banner and no advertising beyond the four disclosed sponsor units described on the funding page. The site sets exactly one localStorage key, for the colour scheme.
What it is built out of
6,722 reports across 1,154 physical lots, covering 63 of 66 catalogued compounds, 20 suppliers and 6 laboratories, from 2024-Q1 to 2026-Q3. Alongside that: 28 method references, 238 glossary terms, 12 anomaly rules and 11 quarterly reports, all hand-authored.
The one design decision everything follows from
The index is organised around batches rather than reports. A batch is one physical lot; a report is one laboratory's observation of one sample of it. Building it that way is what makes the derived pages honest rather than decorative:
- Reproducibility on a batch page is a spread across genuine repeated observations of one material, so lots tested more often genuinely converge and difficult compounds genuinely disagree more.
- Inter-laboratory agreement is a real matched-pair analysis. Where two laboratories tested the same lot, the difference is one bias minus the other, and aggregating the pairs recovers each laboratory's offset with a confidence interval. That page is computed, not asserted.
- Certificate divergence is one supplier-authored number against the median of independent measurements of the same physical material — a comparison that only exists because the index groups by lot.
What it is honest about
Three things, insistently.
Selection. Aggregates on this page are computed over the records the index holds, which are not a random sample of the material on the market. Lots that get tested are lots someone chose to test. Read every figure here as a description of this dataset rather than as an estimate of a population.
Sample size. Every statistic carries the n it was computed from. Below n=8 the badge turns amber. Below n=3 the statistic is suppressed and the raw values are printed instead. Thin coverage stated plainly is a feature; thin coverage stated silently is not.
Provenance. A sample the supplier chose is weaker evidence than one bought anonymously, and the index measures how much weaker: across 88 lots where both exist for the same lot, supplier-supplied samples read a mean 0.31 pp higher. Every scorecard reports the buyer-sourced subset separately.
What it will not do
- Rank suppliers. A ranking needs weights, weights are an opinion, and the reader would take the result for a measurement. Thirteen sortable columns and a stated n is more honest and no less usable.
- Recommend anything. Research compounds. Not medical advice. Nothing on this site is a safety assessment and nothing on it is approved for human use.
- Recommend a supplier. Each scorecard links that supplier's own storefront, marked nofollow and sponsored, so a record can be checked against its source. The index takes no commission.
- Hide a correction. Every change to a published figure is logged with the date, the field, both values and the reason, on the corrections page.
Independence
Open AssayIndex is an independent analytical index. It sells nothing, it is not affiliated with any manufacturer, pharmacy, laboratory or supplier named on it, and it accepts no payment from suppliers. Every compound catalogued here is a research chemical. Research-use-only compounds are not approved for human or veterinary use in any jurisdiction, and several are prohibited in competitive sport. Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, a safety assessment, or a statement that any material is fit for any purpose. Analytical results describe one sample of one lot at one point in time, as measured by one laboratory using one method, and they generalise no further than that.
